    About the LSD Conversion Set

    Precise Traction & Handling

The Usukani Yokomo Original Differential LSD Conversion Set is a high-performance upgrade designed to boost traction, handling, and overall driving dynamics in your RC drift or touring car. This limited-slip differential reduces individual wheelspin by automatically redirecting power to the wheel with the most grip, delivering improved traction and stability, especially through corners or on slippery surfaces. Its precision-engineered design enhances cornering control, reduces understeer, and allows for smoother, more responsive acceleration. Whether you’re pushing performance on the track or fine-tuning your setup for competition, this LSD conversion set offers a significant upgrade in both safety and speed, making it a must-have for serious drivers.

    Features:

    • Reduces wheelspin for better control
    • Sends power to the wheel with grip
    • Improves traction on all surfaces
    • Helps with faster acceleration

Bryson Kahaloa Verified Owner Saturday, Apr 26 2025 (5 months ago) Usukani Yokomo Original Differential LSD Conversion Set Bought this for my sisters YD-2S as I was looking for an alternative to the Rhino Racing C-LSD and other options like Yokomo’s ball diff or solid axle.
This kit is actually intended for both the YD-2/RD/SD differential but also can work on the Rêve D RDX, provided that you install a YD-2/RD/SD oil gear differential as well.
Opening up the package, you’re greeted by the completed assembly of the LSD, some hardware, shims and some spare screws and o-rings. In the instructions and per Usukani, it’s is recommended to use the Yokomo Aluminum Drive Cups and metal gears with this kit for the “strongest feeling”. More on this later.
Assembling this kit, you have to be VERY careful that the individual cross “spokes” don’t fall out as reinstalling the o-ring (optional) is a very tedious ordeal but not at all difficult. One only needs to remove the screw, carefully reposition the o-ring, align the top plate with the bottom half and tighten back up.
I haven’t yet tested, much less installed the kit into my diff to give an opinion on any driving feel differences. However, I will note some things I’ve found that made me question why anyone would want one.
First, the overall cost for the recommended parts. While the kit itself is really affordable, Usukani recommend a few parts to make this system work to their standard. This includes metal gears from the YZ-2 and aluminum outdrives for the YD-2. Both together will cost you nearly $40 extra. Compare this with a Rhino Racing C-LSD “Lightweight” at just $60, it makes no sense when the alternative is cheaper, especially given how you may need new gaskets at $3/each and the YZ-2 differential maintenance kit for $10. Add that total and it’d cost you nearly the same the full fat Rhino C-LSD at $90. So huge disappointment.
An aside to the point above is that sometimes it’s cheaper to buy the YZ-2 high capacity differential kit which at least includes the metal gears and replacement o-rings and gaskets. However, if you still want the aluminum YD-2 outdrives, you have to find somewhere that has any in stock and factor that cost into your build. However in doing all of the aforementioned things, you’ll end up having a spare diff and you have to question why you’ll need two diffs at all.
Second, sourcing the correct recommended parts. Sometimes finding parts for the YD-2 can prove to be hopeless, even if you search the part numbers through Google. The good part is that most Yokomo parts are reused in other chassis, albeit with different parts numbers. The only problem is that you’ll have to carefully research the compatibility yourself through Yokomo. If you’re not prepared for this, stay away from this kit.
Overall, I like that this kit even exists as the other alternative was a similar kit offered by XRay which was far more expensive (because XRay) and harder to come by. As for the argument of whether or not that you should decide on this or a Rhino Racing C-LSD is a matter of personal preference and opinion. However if I were to decide again, I would’ve likely gotten the C-LSD instead based on cost and not requiring additional parts to work as engineered. View all reviews
