Jason Montanaro Verified Owner Wednesday, Apr 2 2025 (6 months ago) Traxxas Ford Fiesta ST 4×4 VXL Brushless 1/10 RTR AWD Rally Car (Orange) Extremely fun car to drive. Very predictable but also very exciting. A great example of how effective TSM can be. Turn it down though and skill starts to become necessary (which I enjoy).Steering response, speed, and acceleration are impressive. Ran a ton of 3S packs through it and no broken parts yet (famous last words). Part/option/upgrade availability and variety is abundant since there is compatibility with the Slash and Stampede.
Why not 5 stars? The ESC and motor get extremely hot if running on pavement. Overheat protection would kick in after less than half a battery even driving “conservatively”. I bought the ESC fan ($25) which definitely helped but I feel should have been included. Other main issue is that the car is essentially a vacuum when driving off road. The chassis does not have anything to deter debris from accumulating inside and it fills up fast. Found a chassis over tray option from JConcepts that was listed as compatible but that must be with the non VXL model because I had to do a lot of trimming to get it to fit. Other than those two issues, I’m definitely happy with this purchase.
Update regarding hop-ups and customization:
As what seems to be a recurring theme in my experience with this hobby, hindsight is 20/20. I do not take anything back from my prior review. However, knowing what I know now I would have opted for the non VXL version and saved money for future upgrades. If you are considering updating any parts and are using the Compatibility Tool, make sure that the VXL version is listed. Otherwise, if a part says it is compatible with the “Rally” version, it is likely referring to the discontinued Traxxas Rally RC. The parts will fit with this model, but you will need additional hardware (screws, bearings, etc) to make it do so. For example, I ordered the MIP front and back CVD kits. Although they fit, there was serious binding with the back and although the front seemed to work, it ate up the bearings. I should have done more research before making the purchases, so that’s on me. When in doubt check the exploded view Just wanted to maybe save someone money who is considering parts upgrades. 1 customer found this review helpful. Great for gravel and ball fields and runs great on pavement. The only issue is the body collects dirt and fills your chassis. I spent an hour picking rocks out. So I got a chassis cover to keep out the crud and I’m back to slinging roster tails.
