Shawn Lesko Verified Owner Monday, Apr 21 2025 (5 months ago) SkyRC BD380 Battery Discharger & Analyzer (40A/380W) It performs its intended function well – discharging RC batteries quickly. The interface is easy to navigate and understand. I like that it is stand alone and does not require a high dollar, specific charger to function. I would buy it again.
On to my cons list. Understand these as nitpicks that keep it away from 5 stars more than reasons not to buy.
1) The scroll wheel to navigate the menu is also the select button when clicked. It can be tough to click without initiating a scroll which causes you to inadvertently change a different setting than you intended.
2) The battery input is an xt60 plug. I have batteries with a variety of connectors, all of which I have charge leads for. I wish the input on this unit was for 4mm plugs so I could use my existing charge leads instead of having to make adapters.
3) I am reaching here, because for this particular nit pick, my main charger would be a better option, but nonetheless, I have noticed this while testing this unit – The software doesn’t control the discharge current well immediately upon initiating the discharge. Say my battery is at 3.9 Volts and I want to discharge at .5Amp down to a final voltage of 3.8 Volts. Upon initiating the discharge, the current will jump to 2 amps before settling to .5 amps. If connected to a low mAh pack, this may cause enough voltage drop to cause the unit to end the discharge cycle instead of properly discharging my battery. 1 customer found this review helpful.
