Brandon Verified Owner Wednesday, Mar 19 2025 (6 months ago) Pro-Line ARRMA 3S Bash Armor Chassis Protector (Gray) (Short WB) These have intrigued me and been in my cart for a while, they finally went on sale and I decided to go for it. Based on the product description, I assumed that the main chassis protector and the front/rear skid guards were sold separately, as the description simply lists (1) chassis protector and some hardware(although the image shows all 3 components). So I bought both parts. Well, turns out the chassis protector also came with the front/rear skids, meaning I bought more than I needed, which is annoying.
Then I noticed that the molded parts had lots of flashing aroiund the edges and tabs leftover from the injection molding process. So that required a bit of handwork with a hobby knife before I could even install on my Granite BLX. Ok, I guess that’s kinda like trimming a lexan body…
Finally, I was ready to install! But wait, the hardware included was not nearly enough to get the job done(4 screws total). Some of the stock screws were reused, but most would be too short. I did not have enough FHCS screws on hand, so that required a trip to my LHS for some more hardware. Eventually I got the 3 piece skid set installed. Time to go play!
Things were great for about 5min. Some rips around the grass field, and pumping around the skatepark leads to a modest nosedive, and *plink*, the front skid snaps off, shearing the mounting holes and leaving the hardware now protruding from the chassis, just asking to be sheared off. Oh brother… Good thing I had my box of screws handy, so I could put the stock hardware back in and finish running 2 packs.
All this to say, this was a waste of ~$35, and a misleading title of “Bash Armor”. Maybe I won’t be ordering the control arm kits… View all reviews
