Seth McCormack Verified Owner Monday, Jan 13 2025 (8 months ago) Maverick Phantom XB Brushed 1/10 4WD RTR Electric Buggy i bought the buggy on the black friday sale for $99, figured thats a steal for a 1/10th buggy rtr. its not the worst thing ever but definitely isnt any where near great.
pros:
its cheap
good for beginners trying to get into the hobby
cons:
servo doesnt get supplied enough juice to work all to well, even when holding it off the ground with a fully charged battery the servo doesnt have enough juice to re-center itself when you turn the wheels and let go of the wheel.
uses normal screws instead of hex hardware and the screws seem pretty soft and ive already stripped one
the wing will explode into a million pieces the first time you flip it, even if its a small small smallll tumble
motor is slow and very noisy
battery doesnt last that long, i think ive gotten 15-20min out of it.
the usb charger is excruciatingly slow, standard lipo batteries and chargers charge wayyyy faster
still requires an antenna tube for the antenna wire.
opinion about the buggy:
not bad for the price, would honestly recommend it to someone trying to get started in the hobby, its an alright cheap basher, but if you can spend north of $200 i would go traxxas or arrma or even an actual hpi branded truck, 1 customer found this review helpful. George Verified Owner Friday, Dec 13 2024 (9 months ago) Maverick Phantom XB Brushed 1/10 4WD RTR Electric Buggy I never write reviews but this buggy is next level garbage and if I can help someone avoid losing their money I feel I need to get the word out. I wanted to see how something like this compares to a kit car like a Tamiya. The answer is the tamiya is a top shelf product that is worth every penny. Right out of the box the steering was binding and barely turned, so I tried lubing the ball joints and that helped some. So I put in a 2s lipo and went out in the yard. Within 5 minutes of use the steering stuck and I ran into a frozen dirt mound that bent the front drive axle. Straightened the axle to where I can use it again and tried again now I slid the car sideways into the side of my garage and the wheel broke right off. Now I’m done with it. This car is not that powerful none of this should be happening. I own a lot faster cars that haven’t broken yet.
