Jonathan Smith Saturday, May 17 2025 (4 months ago) HPI Venture18 Roof LED Light Kit Type1 w/JR Connector So I actually got these from another source due to scarcity, but I still review here for posterity.
The harness itself is well made. Cut to the right length, I was able to get it neatly packed onto the rollbar without being too visible (color the red wires black with a sharpie and tie the wires to the bar).
Where it falls down is light color. For all the hubub made about how nice it was that HPI finally used halogen colored lights, they decided to go backward and use that cheap fluorescent blue on these. Why HPI?! You clearly have a source of nice halogen temperature LEDs for the headlights, why did you go back to that horrid blue for the roof lights?! I could have understood pure white for high intensity offroad lights up top, but not this awful blue.
They don’t even light up that much, the 2 main headlights are much brighter than these (I assume because these are wired in series instead of parallel, but still) they are really just a novelty at this point and so you can say “they work at least.” At least they’re independently controllable. 2 customers found this review helpful.
