Eric Larsen Verified Owner Tuesday, Sep 23 2025 (5 days ago) Furitek Axial® SCX24 UNITY24 PRO 2-in-1 Micro FOC Brushless System (3500kV) I’ve got about 5 or 6 runs on this system so far in my SCX24. My truck is originally a Base Camp and the overall chassis layout is still stock, so what I’m about to say may only be applicable to the Basecamp or any crawler with the same wheelbase. Installing this system requires a few changes to the truck. The included motor plate puts the motor on the other side of the transmission compared to the stock brushed motor. You then need to remove the center skid and reverse it’s orientation in the truck in order to flip the whole transmission around. This will leave the motor protruding towards the rear of the vehicle. As far as I can tell, there is no way to orient this system with the motor forward-facing. I saw some people online who said they got it to be oriented forward-facing, but I couldn’t see any way for that to work on a stock Base Camp without modifying the links, frame, and front shock mounts. With the unit rear facing, it drops right in, but requires modification and removal of the rear battery tray. I elected to trim off the end and a few other areas of the battery tray and then I drilled some new holes in the chassis rails to move the whole battery tray back so that it sits centered front-to-back on the rear shock tower, which wasn’t difficult and works very well. This leaves the front pad where the ESC/RX unit was previously located as the perfect location to mount your choice of receiver. I then had to swap the transmission output shafts front/rear and had to trim a few mm off of one of the shafts to get everything to fit back in without binding. Doing all of this resulted in a very clean, almost factory finish to the install.
Pros:
1. Slow speed control is nothing short of AMAZING. It really is that good. Anything below 1/8 throttle for super slow crawling is absolutely silent and smooth.
2. Very clean install is possible with a little bit of work.
3. Plenty of wheel speed on a 3s battery for trailing. Full speed is slightly faster than a comfortable walking pace. Though I wouldn’t recommend long-duration full speed runs (because of heat buildup addressed below).
4. Setup and programming through the app is very quick and easy.
5. BEC has plenty of power to run the servo plus lights with no flickering.
6. Dramatic improvement in power and performance over the stock system. But at $100, that’s what I would expect.
Cons:
1. Because it needs to be rear facing, the weight bias on the truck after install is not great. I have the axial front brass knuckles installed which leaves the truck very close to equally balanced front-to-back with a 300mah 3s lipo installed on the battery in the back between the shock towers. More forward weight bias would be better. Depending on what body you are using, you may be able to mount your battery at the front above the servo for a better weight bias.
2. The system does get fairly warm during normal use. Even doing only slow speed crawling, after 1 or 2 battery packs, the 2-in-1 unit gets pretty toasty to the touch. A heatsink or fan may be warranted.
3. I needed to slightly countersink one of the holes on the included carbon fiber spur cover to get the screw head low enough that the face of the motor will mount flush to the included motor plate. That’s a bit of an oversight on Furitek. A quick fix, but an oversight nonetheless.
Overall, I’m happy with this system, though it has some small shortcomings. Jay Reaves Verified Owner Sunday, Feb 16 2025 (7 months ago) Furitek Axial® SCX24 UNITY24 PRO 2-in-1 Micro FOC Brushless System (3500kV) I had high hopes for this motor ESC combo, and it exceeded my expectations. My plan was to put this into a SCX24 Base Camp. I wanted to make it more capable but keep the size and aesthetics, rear stock front axle swap, upgraded servos (front and rear), ditch the 2 in one electronics, better motor, brass parts only on the axles… Everything seemed to be going well until I installed this motor, the new mount spins the motor 180° on the transmission placing it in the way of the electronics tray and front body mount assembly, to continue use I would have to cut the tray up (which is fine) but would only leave the tray attached at 3 points not 4 so I dug deeper… I next tried spinning the transmission mount 180° but this just placed the motor in the way of the battery tray but leaving tons of room in front. I think my next step is to ditch the factory chassis for a LCG chassis. I can say (in testing) it does go SLOW when you want it to and way faster than the stock brushed motor when you give it the juice, the Bluetooth programming works well, and the machined can and carbon is a aesthetically pleasing addition. With my experience, I can’t recommend this motor to someone who doesn’t have a aftermarket chassis. But the motor and user interface are superb. Sean Arsenault Verified Owner Friday, Feb 7 2025 (8 months ago) Furitek Axial® SCX24 UNITY24 PRO 2-in-1 Micro FOC Brushless System (3500kV) Easy to install. More quiet then my Furitex venom brushless system. Chrsitopher Talbot Verified Owner Wednesday, Nov 6 2024 (11 months ago) Furitek Axial® SCX24 UNITY24 PRO 2-in-1 Micro FOC Brushless System (3500kV) Product quality is 5 stars. I initially had an issue with the motor skipping at full throttle on a 3S LiPo, but Furitek’s customer service was exceptional—they responded promptly, even on a Sunday, and, based on my bug testing, released a public firmware update (version 1.2) that resolved the issue for everyone with the ESC. In contrast, Amain’s customer service was disappointing; I requested a price match for a Gens Ace charger, but after a two-day delay, my inquiry was ignored. They lose 2 stars for poor handling of a straightforward request.
UPDATE: Within 30 minutes of posting my original review, Amain reached out to me, apologized, and issued a $25 store credit—which exceeds the savings I would have received from the price match. Due to their prompt response and the care they demonstrated, I am updating my rating to five stars. They have completely turned my negative experience around. 1 of 2 customers found this review helpful. View all reviews
