    About the RS2.0

    Chassis

The Yokomo Rookie Speed RS2.0 1/10 On-Road Competition Electric Touring Car Kit is a perfect entry-level choice for aspiring racers, featuring a high-performance yet budget-friendly design. Its chassis, crafted from durable resin for both the main plate and upper deck, provides a balanced and smooth ride with strong ground contact, ensuring consistent traction. The use of resin also helps to keep the kit lightweight, allowing for better handling and control. The chassis includes a robust aluminum motor mount, designed to accommodate both brushed and brushless motors, giving it excellent heat dissipation and durability. Additionally, the battery holder is versatile enough to fit various battery types, from round Sub-C 6-cell packs to modern LiPo batteries, ensuring flexibility in power source options. For added protection, a large urethane bumper is integrated into the front to shield the vehicle during crashes, maintaining the kit’s longevity.

    Drivetrain

The drivetrain of the RS2.0 is finely tuned for balanced performance, thanks to its two-belt system featuring equal-length front and rear belts. This setup creates a stable, responsive driving experience with minimal disturbances during throttle inputs, resulting in smoother cornering. Both the front and rear drives utilize gear differentials, with the rear incorporating an oil-filled, sealed differential case. This allows for the tuning of driving characteristics by adjusting the oil viscosity, granting racers the ability to optimize handling for specific track conditions. Universal drive shafts ensure consistent drive efficiency, even when the suspension is engaged or steering at sharp angles, making the RS2.0 remarkably easy to control, even for novice drivers.

    Suspension & Shocks

The shocks and suspension system of the RS2.0 is designed to elevate handling performance. The inclusion of short oil-filled shocks, combined with lower shock towers, drastically reduces the vehicle’s center of gravity, leading to enhanced stability and improved maneuverability. These shorter shocks provide precise control, and their compatibility with competition-level springs opens up a wide range of tuning possibilities. The double-wishbone suspension on both the front and rear absorbs road surface impacts, delivering a smooth, composed ride. The turnbuckle upper arms and tie rods make it easy to adjust camber and toe-in, offering fine-tuning capabilities for competitive racing. This combination of high-end shock and suspension components ensures the RS2.0 is capable of delivering a competitive edge on the track, with plenty of upgrade potential as skills improve.

Benjamin Zuidema Verified Owner Wednesday, Aug 13 2025 (7 weeks ago) Yokomo Rookie Speed RS2.0 Electric 1/10 4WD Touring Car Kit Hard to setup, have had alot of trial and error, stock setup needs work and final drive didnt work well In my local class Douglas Stansbury Verified Owner Sunday, Aug 10 2025 (7 weeks ago) Yokomo Rookie Speed RS2.0 Electric 1/10 4WD Touring Car Kit I’m having some fun with this car, but am having trouble getting the gearing right. I’m using the 17.5 turn Justock motor. I keep stripping my spur gear. The kit includes a 48P 86 tooth spur. I’m thinking a 3:1 gear ratio would work well.
What gears are working well on your car? Aaron Hunt Verified Owner Saturday, May 10 2025 (5 months ago) Yokomo Rookie Speed RS2.0 Electric 1/10 4WD Touring Car Kit My first Yokomo kit…. And what a pleasure! It does have some fitment issues, minor instruction issues, and so I wouldn’t recommend this as a beginner kit. Anyone with a few cars building experience should be ok. The plastic’s are second to none! I have built kits from so many other major brands and Yokomo makes their plastics so precise, it’s almost like milled aluminum. The ball cups are VERY hard to pop on, but once on are very smooth and not likely to pop off easily. The shocks go together easily and are some of the smoothest plastic shocks I’ve ever built. The body threads are also just as precise as aluminum body shocks. All said, this should be a very durable kit, and my initial drive proved to be a complete joy. Smooth, straight, turns in and exits so good! I did use a short pack in the forward position, a low profile servo, and for this class we are running 27 t brushed motors so I personally like to run 5 k rear diff and 3 k front ( I know backwards, but I like the way it drives). I am completely satisfied with this kit and for a plastic chassis class, it should be the standout kit to get! santiago almendarez Verified Owner Friday, Feb 7 2025 (8 months ago) Yokomo Rookie Speed RS2.0 Electric 1/10 4WD Touring Car Kit Just terrible. Could not keep this chassis going straight for nothing. Had protek servos and another brand and nothing worked. Would have everything on servo and transmitter, and a small bump would give the steering an undrivable direction to the left. Had all of the guys at my racing club looking at it, and nobody understood why it couldn’t keep a steady straight line.
Heard great things about the RS 1.0, So I scooped this one up in a heartbeat.
