    About the XB2 2025

    Chassis

The XB2 2025 1/10 Electric 2WD Competition Buggy Kit from XRAY delivers cutting-edge engineering and unparalleled performance designed for competitive racing on high or low traction surfaces. The chassis has been extensively refined, featuring an updated thinner, 2.0mm aluminum one-piece design crafted from high-quality Swiss 7075 T6 aluminum for optimal strength and durability. The widened rear section improves overall stability, while the mid-length layout offers balanced rear traction and precise steering. Enhanced flex characteristics result from a unique Flat Chassis Brace system, which is mounted directly to the chassis and rear gearbox. This innovative brace allows racers to fine-tune the chassis flex by simply adjusting the screw configuration, accommodating a range of track conditions. Redesigned longer side braces further improve flex control and consistency, while the CNC-milled centerline cut-out simplifies electronics installation by routing sensor cables cleanly underneath the battery. These thoughtful updates create a platform that is more stable, responsive, and versatile for elite racing performance.

    Drivetrain

The drivetrain of the XB2 2025 has been meticulously engineered to enhance efficiency, adjustability, and durability. At the heart of the drivetrain lies the updated 3G Gearbox, optimized to integrate seamlessly with the Flat Chassis Brace. This gearbox strikes an excellent balance between stability and steering, making it highly adaptable to diverse track conditions. The redesigned motor mount lowers the center of gravity for enhanced cornering and acceleration, while the updated aluminum rear roll center holder introduces an additional middle pivot ball position for precise tuning of the rear suspension geometry. Differential height adjustments are now more straightforward with eccentric bushings that provide six distinct positions, enabling racers to tailor the setup based on track conditions, ride height, and tire size.

    Suspension

The suspension on the XB2 2025 has been overhauled for unparalleled tuning and handling capabilities. shorter front suspension arms and updated rear suspension arms offer updated shock mounting positions, enhancing cornering speed and overall agility. Carbon fiber shock towers with lowered geometry improve handling precision and contribute to a lower center of gravity, while the big bore shocks are shortened to ensure optimal compression and extension. The inclusion of updated anti-roll bars, available in 1.2mm and 1.4mm options, aids in weight transfer management on high-traction surfaces. Heavy-duty 3.5mm turnbuckles and 5.4mm ball ends add durability to the steering and camber linkages, while redesigned composite ball joints reduce suspension bind for smooth movement. XRAY’s signature aluminum servo mounts with a carbon connecting plate improve rigidity and precision, ensuring consistent steering response. Together, these updates make the XB2 2025 a standout performer capable of delivering unmatched handling and adaptability!

Joel Corona Verified Owner Tuesday, Sep 2 2025 (4 weeks ago) XRAY XB2D 2025 1/10 Electric 2WD Competition Buggy Kit (Dirt) Amazing driving/building experience!
The building experience was very good. Love how the instructions give you the option of changing the set up as you go depending on grip level. Compared to the 2024 XB2 instructions they are much improved, they no longer have the carpet instructions in the same book which provides a more clean look. A arms did not need any reaming, the servo installation is much improved from the 2024. The turn buckles and ball cups are larger this time around which I believe will help w/ durability and longevity as they won’t pop off as easily or wear down as fast since there is more surface area. Another welcomed addition is that they included an aluminum rear center holder, very nice. A few things I noticed however but not worthy of downgrading a star; with a 72 tooth spur gear the motor has to sit further back when using a smaller spur gear (30-32T) which contacts the chassis brace (part #321281), the inner control arm spacers need to be sanded down a bit to allow the arms to move freely on the hinges. I still think this is by far a better building experience albeit a bit technical at points than the any of the Tekno kits. The other thing I noticed is rearmost fan mount position is too close to the motor and causes the fan to change RPM and eventually die out due to the motor magnets. I put my fan on the other side of the plastic chassis brace to help w/ that, although cooling performance is reduced. For low grip build the battery sits to far back to put the fan where the waterfall bridge would normally be.
Driving impressions exceeded my expectations. The set up I used is the recommended set up for low grip as provided by the manual. My home track is indoor clay at San Diego Raceway that for the most part is low-medium grip level. The buggy comes alive w/ aggressive driving style. There is still enough rear grip as to not punish you when you are pushing the car. The rear end will come loose on you but it’s very progressive and easy to catch. On landings you are able to initiate turning w/o the car getting upset or tipping over. I did drive the newer AE 2wd and when comparing, the AE is a little easier to drive but it tends to understeer more (front end push) which is probably what makes it easy to drive. The way the rear suspension is set up on the XB2 from the box allows you to do some very interesting maneuvers that I thought where not possible on a 2wd. I really enjoy pushing this car, and find it far more enjoyable than my XB4 to drive. I mostly race in the sportsman class and have found myself very comfortable under pressure when driving the car compared to my other RC’s (short course, 4wd buggy). I’m not using any upgraded parts on the buggy, even the servo horn is the stock plastic one that it comes w/. I don’t think at my level of experience it is necessary as the buggy drives so well from the get go. I highly recommend you drive it the vehicle in its stock form before considering any set up modifications. I do think Xray did a great job w/ this vehicle. 1 customer found this review helpful.
