Chassis, Suspension and Drivetrain
The RC10 Jay Halsey Edition features a design that remains iconic even decades later. The chassis is made from T6 aircraft-grade aluminum in a monocoque tub configuration, offering both rigidity and lightness for superior handling on rough terrain. The fully adjustable 4-wheel independent suspension is enhanced by long-throw, fluid-filled aluminum shocks, ensuring smooth handling over bumps and jumps. The A-arm/ball joint suspension system provides customizable tuning for camber, caster, ride height, and spring rate, giving racers a high level of control over the vehicle’s performance.
The rear suspension incorporates a durable dog-bone and stub axle drivetrain, with a low-profile gearbox housing the VariLok adjustable differential, protected by an integrated motor heat sink. These race-proven components deliver exceptional ground clearance and a low center of gravity, making the RC10 highly adaptable to various track conditions

So had to have the re-release. Brought great memories back. 1 customer found this review helpful. James Lonano Verified Owner Tuesday, Dec 17 2024 (9 months ago) Team Associated RC10 Jay Halsey Edition 1/10 Electric 2WD Buggy Kit I bought my first RC10 in either late 1985 or early 1986 and own many of them. This kit went together quickly and smoothly. Materials are top notch. No need to deburr the gears in the 6 gear transmission like the old days, it all went together with nice precision right out of the box. LO and behold, it’s turns into a very nice and shiny RC10. Just 2 suggestions. The Bell crank system is just about identical to the original 1985 kit using a pair of collared rods with clamps to attach the servo horn to the bell crank. Do yourself a favor and buy a small length of 4-40 rod, cut the rod and bend it to size, some AE ball caps (kit has spares) and cups and run the servo linkage just like Jay Halsey and many of us did back in the old days. And this kit should have come with Ball bearings so plan on a few extra dollars to finish it properly. Bonus points for picking up the Yokomo wing buttons Jay used on his car in ’85 and either pinning the diff rings or ca glue them to the drive cups. Cutting the chassis, nose and motor plate is optional (lol). I painted mine in the Halsey color scheme but others have had luck with the striped decals using soapy water method and some heat to apply them. I’m very pleased with this kit. It’s upgraded in several key areas, but stays very true to the original. Damien Beri Wednesday, Jul 30 2025 (9 weeks ago) Team Associated RC10 Jay Halsey Edition 1/10 Electric 2WD Buggy Kit To be honest it all looks cool, but I found the parts during assembly to be not the best quality. It seemed like they cut a lot of corners and used the simplest way to make it. Way too many C clips, all crappy bushings, etc. I didn’t know buying this car I would be transported back to crappy 80s builds as well. I assumed this was a revamped edition with modern tech. Nope, seems like super outdated tech, and cheap plastic components. 0 of 1 customers found this review helpful. Luke’s Vintage RC Thursday, Feb 13 2025 (7 months ago) Team Associated RC10 Jay Halsey Edition 1/10 Electric 2WD Buggy Kit If you’re wanting a beautiful and legendary rc, this is the one to get. A stunning rc to display. If you want to run it well that’s fine but you need ball bearings, pinion gear of your choice, motor, servo and radio gear. Also paint is not included. Have fun I sure did. If you like to see it all done check out my YouTube video. You can find me easily- Luke’s Vintage RC. 0 of 1 customers found this review helpful. Ben Arning Saturday, Feb 22 2025 (7 months ago) Team Associated RC10 Jay Halsey Edition 1/10 Electric 2WD Buggy Kit So Jay Halsey ran bushings instead of bearings? Come on A.E. ;( 0 of 2 customers found this review helpful. View all reviews
