The Cougar 2 Works Classic is equipped with Varishocks. Varishocks are precision-engineered, oil-filled, coil-over alloy shock absorbers that provide smooth and responsive handling. James Lonano Verified Owner Tuesday, Jan 7 2025 (9 months ago) Schumacher Cougar 2 Works Classic 1/10 2WD Off-Road Buggy Kit This is an outstanding kit with many very nice upgrades in the mix per the original Cougar 2 Works kit. Building a retro or vintage Schumacher is a an interesting experience. You have to be engaged and do some figuring things out so give yourself plenty of time and patience to do it right and develop your technique on items like the servo saver and outdrives . These old Schumacher designs are well engineered (sometimes over engineered) and quirky in a good way so no cookie cutter parts here. The build is setup in individual bags that have every part, screw, and clip needed to perform the specific item so the workflow is very organized. Everything you need is in the kit; Shock oil, greases, Loctite etc. The suspension and shocks are silky smooth and the ball differential is smooth as butter as you would expect from Schumacher. Everything is tight, highest quality all around. I bought my first Schumacher Cat in 1987 so this brought back tons of memories. I have recent ‘retro’ kits from the Schumacher’s long time competitors and you get a lot of goodness for the asking price. When built, you can stand back and behold the beautifully anodized chassis, the carbon fiber bits and smooth shocks, the amazingly smooth operation of the buggy and appreciate the thought, care and quality that went into reproducing this kit. 1 customer found this review helpful. Not only is it an absolute stunner, but also an amazing performer. The instructions in this kit are hands down some of the best I’ve ever had the pleasure of following through. Take your time on the roller driveshafts, but otherwise it comes together very quickly. Running on a 17.5T stock brushless setup it rips around a track on the stock manual specs! I highly recommend getting this over most RC10’s or Super Astute if you want a kit that is truly ready to race straight out of the box. John Masden Verified Owner Friday, May 16 2025 (4 months ago) Schumacher Cougar 2 Works Classic 1/10 2WD Off-Road Buggy Kit This is the ultimate expression of the alloy chassis 2WD line that started with the Top Cat. Schumacher threw everything at it- ball raced steering, 23mm diff, slipper clutch, hard anodized shocks, carbon towers, Aero-disc wheels, roller driveshafts…they even slid the diff back on the chassis to reduce the angle of the driveshafts. There weren’t a lot of these made originally. By the time it was released, Schumacher was already developing the Cougar 2000. So this Cougar 2 Works is the last and best of the early Schumacher 2WD buggies. If you compare features, it is quite a bargain at $339. The parts quality, fit and finish is as good as anything on the market.
Note- Amain links Cougar Classic parts to the Cougar 2 Works. In many cases those parts are a lower spec and sometimes won’t fit at all.
