Design

The Losi 8IGHT-XTE 1/8 4WD Electric Brushless Ready-To-Run Race Truggy stands out with a meticulously engineered design rooted in the ROAR National Championship-winning TLR 8IGHT-X platform. The 8IGHT-XTE truggy’s drivetrain is engineered for exceptional durability and performance. The vehicle is equipped with fluid-filled, sealed differentials in the front, center, and rear, which allow each tire to drive independently, delivering maximum traction and adaptability to various track conditions. Innovative & Powerful Electronics

At the heart of the 8IGHT-XTE’s performance is its innovative Spektrum sensored brushless system, which includes a 130A ESC and a 2250Kv motor. This system allows for seamless communication between the motor and ESC, providing smooth and precise control across the entire power band, and eliminating the cogging or stuttering typical of Sensorless motors. The included Spektrum DX3 2.4GHz Smart DSMR transmitter features throttle limiting functions, making it ideal for novice racers who can limit the truggy’s top speed as they learn. Additionally, the transmitter’s Smart battery level indicator helps drivers monitor their battery capacity in real-time. My only issue is I run taller 4s batteries and I had to order some new longer straps cause the stock ones wouldn’t secure my batteries. The power system is incredible and I installed a 25t pinion with dual fans on the motor and it’s an absolute terror. If you’re on the fence jump over it and buy this because you will not regret it! Losi never disappoints and I always have a smile on my face when I’m running this truggy. I have the Arrma Talion EXB and love it but this just has a different appeal all around. If you need or want 2 truggies I’d say the Talion exb and the XTE 8ight are the way to go hands down. 2 customers found this review helpful. The electronics are great. The ESC And 2250KV motor are basically race spec. I’ve been racing it at the local 1/8 scale track and it keeps up with the latest Tekno and TLR Truggys.
It’s a little more difficult to work on than the TLR version. The rear differential cover is a single piece not a split case like the TLR version making it difficult to access.
All of the hardware was either completely over torqued and impossible to remove or barely attached from factory and the quality of the hardware is not ideal. I ordered the TLR hardware package and replaced all of the stock hardware with stainless screws.
I’m very happy overall. It’s a great Truggy to learn with and in the future when I’m driving at a truly competitive level I’m going to transfer the ESC and motor to a TLR or Tekno.
The thing handles really well and it’s a rocket. I bought the Spectrum ESC programmer (SPMXCA200) for $29 from AMain and it makes programming the ESC easy. 1 customer found this review helpful. Wanted something different. This is a fantastic truck. Very well rounded and very nicely built. I thought configuring the ESC to my liking would be difficult but couldn’t have been any easier.
