Brandon Verified Owner Wednesday, Mar 19 2025 (6 months ago) Exotek Reflex 14 HD Steel Spur Gear (58T) Finally, what we’ve all been waiting for! Mt 14MT has been shelved for a while, after shredding no less than 9 plastic spur gears! This is the solution we needed, though I doubt the stock metal pinions will last(I’ve broken those too). I’m using this Exotek spur with a hardened steel pinion from Hot Racing(1/8″ bore will not fit the stock 2.3mm motor). Also note that this is the smaller of the 2 spur choices for the AE 14th scale platform, and IMO that is good, as this allows the use of the flush mount lower spur cover, instead of the larger cover which protrudes and gets mashed when bashing. Jason Montanaro Verified Owner Wednesday, Jul 23 2025 (2 months ago) Exotek Reflex 14 HD Steel Spur Gear (58T) Yes it’s a bit of an expensive upgrade for a spur gear. Especially for a platform like the Reflex. But it’s Exotek and they make quality parts. I have spent many hours of bench time getting the powertrain on my 14MT dialed in. Although it seems the mini craze is finally cooling off, that little truck is gonna be a blast to drive every time it gets turned on for a session. I wouldn’t recommend it as the 1st upgrade for this model. There are a couple other issues that, imo, need to get sorted out of the box. Not to say you won’t see a difference if it’s the only part you swap. Just that it’s built to handle a lot more than the factory BOM. I bought both sizes and am completely satisfied. View all reviews
