Chassis
The Prodigy 12 is built on a carpet-specific chassis that combines super lightweight and rigid aluminum with premium carbon fiber components. It is the fastest 1/12 I have ever ran its so easy to set up and just a pleasure to drive. The best way i can describe this car is its simple yet complex. Keith Hamilton Monday, Sep 30 2024 (12 months ago) eXcelerate Prodigy 1/12 Scale Electric On-Road Competition Pan Car Kit I would have rated this car 4.5 stars, if that was an option. The car is the fastest 1/12th scale car that I have driven in my 25 years in RC racing. In the first couple of runs, I found myself behind the car. I’d turn into the corner and the car would pop out the other side just as quick. I had to adjust my driving to stay in the throttle more than I was and the car just took it. In two weekends with the car I have run the fastest laps of the day in one of them and ran a very close second to another Prodigy 12 in the other. The car is responding very well to tuning adjustments too. This car has the lowest center of gravity of any current 1/12th scale. That and the design that seems a bit between a t-bar rear pod car and the spaceship that is the A12, contributes to its insane corner speed. So five stars for the concept of the car and how fast it is.
I did experience the issues mentioned in other reviews. The front steering post is rough and needed to be polished. Prodigy said that they are fixing the issue using a different coating and will be available soon, if not already on the site. And I did break one of the purple pod mounts and a damper wing in a very hard crash. I cut the sweeper short and put the car into the outside wall at full speed, right on the rear wheel. I did the same with my A12 once before and bent one of the metal damping wings on that car. 1/12th scale cars aren’t designed to be driven full throttle into a rear wheel side slapper without something happening.
Bottom line… this is a super fast car. You do have to think about it as being in early on the next thing. We are all going to learn a bit as the car is raced and starts to be seen in big races. On the good side of that is that they are a company that welcomes feedback, listens, and jumps into action to find solutions and make the car better. 2 of 3 customers found this review helpful. Robert Apfelbaum Sunday, Sep 22 2024 (about a year ago) eXcelerate Prodigy 1/12 Scale Electric On-Road Competition Pan Car Kit This review is based on my personal and fellow owner’s experience. The car at first glance is well thought out and easy to assemble. It has adjustment points for refined tuning in all the right spots. It’s extremely fast but has some major flaws in quality control. The aluminum Flex Points have 2 pins the keep the chassis in line. These pins continue to shear off allowing the chassis to flex and bind rendering the car useless. The second flaw is in the rear suspension damper rods, they have plastic ears that will break off if you don’t have the set screw adjusted perfectly. The Kingpins although flashy they are not smooth. They have a gritty feel to them not allowing the steering block to function smoothly. I had to sand the grit out and polish them for smooth operation. In my opinion this would be a fantastic platform if these issues were addressed and resolved. 1 customer found this review helpful. We have updated the kits to now include our Pro Kingpins (no additional cost) which improve the strength and surface finish for smooth front end operation. The side pivots now come with steel pins vs the original aluminum. Last, the damper pivots and rods have had mold adjustments to make them much more durable as well as a material change that makes them next to impossible to break.
eXcelerate R/C will always strive to bring the best quality and performance while constantly improving our materials. We’ve addressed all the issues and also are the only kit to include an aluminum servo saver which adds value for your hard earned $$.

Robert Esplana Friday, Jan 10 2025 (9 months ago) eXcelerate Prodigy 1/12 Scale Electric On-Road Competition Pan Car Kit Innovation is top notch — the car is super fragile even in the hands of mod drivers and 13.5 drivers experienced — even with the new updates of the revamped parts they still break — for as fragile as it is not worth it at its pricepoint — or local store dumped every prodigy to in lude the f1 at the third of the price — wasnt worth the customers/racers having to replace parts every heat — 0 of 1 customers found this review helpful.
