The rig comes factory-finished and is available in your choice of two color options.
About the AXP8
Chassis
The AXP8 is designed with extreme buggy looks with the majority of the electronics hidden. Built on 2.2 wheels and tires, this rock crawler uses heavy-duty, high clearance AF16P portal axles are among the design innovations that increase maneuverability for success on challenging trails. The transmission includes a 30% underdrive to the rear axle that dramatically improves climbing and increases maneuverability.
Suspension
The AXP8 also features freshly designed, aluminum bodies, and internal spring IS10 shocks that increase ground clearance and scale realism. Its smooth, high-flex 4-link suspension geometry reduces the effects of torque twist and provides consistent articulation without the bump steer found in 3-link designs.
ASD (Axial Selectable Drive)
Pushing this truck to the next level is Axial Selectable Drive. Unlike a locker, this allows you to independently lock one of the rear tires at will. Known as Cutting Brakes, ASD physically and completely locks a wheel. This gives you the ability to increase turning performance for a tighter turn radius. Optionally, the front axle also can accept an ASD setup (Front ASD Components Sold Separately).
Electronics
The oversized Axial Boulder 21-turn 550 brushed motor, paired with the Spektrum Firma 70A ESC, is able to deliver ample torque to ensure this trail buggy tackles a wide range of terrain. The included Spektrum DX3 Smart Transmitter allows you to take advantage of the ASD by using the toggle found under the wheel of the transmitter. Also, when using Spektrum SMART Batteries, this transmitter is able to indicate the battery voltage top mounted LEDs (Batteries Sold Separately).

Mainelyrc Verified Owner Thursday, Mar 13 2025 (7 months ago) Axial AXP8 Gilamon 2.2 1/8 Electric RTR 4×4 2.2 Trail Buggy (Green) Bought 2 and the esc in 1 of them lasted about 4 minutes. If i chalk the esc up to just a random bad one and base the review on the gilamon that actually works. Wow. This thing is an animal. Plenty of videos to come on Mainelyrc YouTube channel of both of the gilamons.
So 4 stars since one was faulty out of the box. Would have been 5 stars easy if both worked 1 customer found this review helpful. Phillip Trayer Verified Owner Friday, Mar 7 2025 (7 months ago) Axial AXP8 Gilamon 2.2 1/8 Electric RTR 4×4 2.2 Trail Buggy (Green) The build quality is very disappointing. I own a number of axial trucks and have a certain expectation of quality, the gilamon falls short. It has a very unfinished unrefined feel bordering on toy grade. The power switch wasn’t mounted. The move to Chinese manufacturing shows. 2 of 3 customers found this review helpful. Lucas Vargo Verified Owner Thursday, May 29 2025 (4 months ago) Axial AXP8 Gilamon 2.2 1/8 Electric RTR 4×4 2.2 Trail Buggy (Green) This car was awesome to drive it gripped well and crawled amazingly Bob DAmico Verified Owner Saturday, May 3 2025 (5 months ago) Axial AXP8 Gilamon 2.2 1/8 Electric RTR 4×4 2.2 Trail Buggy (Green) Love this crawler, loads of fun, added a little weight in the wheels, changed the tires and wheels, great articulation , no issues with it so far Quito Justice Thursday, Feb 13 2025 (7 months ago) Axial AXP8 Gilamon 2.2 1/8 Electric RTR 4×4 2.2 Trail Buggy (Green) YouTube reviews show optional parts on the back of included poster. I do not see the same options on axial website how to order those parts with buggy. and Axial customer service was really bad last few product i have purchased. for instance i purchased the tenacity db, it was obviously a prior return, screws were dirty and rusty, stripped, and gears starting to strip. When i contacted axialI never received response, and n when I contacted amain hobbies they also did not respond. So i was sold a broken rc under the impression it was brand new. A ripoff! 0% Help. I feel this need to be made right, it was almost $400.00 and has never worked. BOOOO 1 of 23 customers found this review helpful. View all reviews
